Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of companies which has been operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the Energy and Mining Industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture.

The Role
We are seeking a full-time HSE Advisor. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in a safety role. He/she is hardworking, self-motivated, and reliable. This position reports into the Director of Safety
 
Location and Job Details
  • Site: Fort Hills
  • Schedule: 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). 14 days on, 7 off. 14 nights on, 7 off.
  • Accommodations: Camp accommodation is provided.
  • Transportation: Flights are provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary. Bussing provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after rotation).
  • Overtime: After 8 hours in a day and after 40 hours in a week
Compensation/Benefits
  • $28.00 to $38.00 per hour with OT at 1.5 x the regular rate (bi-weekly pay).
  • OT after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
  • 9.6% Vacation and Statutory Holiday pay on all regular hours paid out bi-weekly.
  • $2.00 per hour increase after 90 days subject to a successfully performance review.
  • Extended health, dental, vison, travel and paramedical coverage after 90 days.
  • AD&D, life insurance and dependent life insurance after 90 days.

 Responsibilities/Job Duties
  • Conduct facility and field inspections to ensure compliance with OHS & company standards.
  • Facilitate company safety and committee meetings as well as maintain recorded minutes.
  • Audit and evaluate all safety documentation within assigned areas to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the development of risk reviews, hazard assessments, safe work procedures, rescue plans, job safety analysis, emergency response drills, and field level hazard assessments.
  • Support and create HSE Execution Plans for new projects and new scopes of work as needed.
  • Help support Client Prequals as needed for new or existing client’s opportunities.
  • Provide support and implement employee competency/training programs for assigned areas.
  • Ensure Safe Work Practices and Procedures are maintained and reviewed annually.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and policies, while providing guidance/support when required.
  • Maintain a positive health and safety culture in line with the company’s values.
  • Conduct Safety Moment during the morning Toolbox.
  • Review and scan all SOS cards.
Education/Qualifications/Training
  • Prior experience in Heavy Civil Construction.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal relationship, change and time management skills.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in a Safety role.
  • Proven safety planning experience.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement experience.
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
