Who we are
Kichton Construction LP (KCLP) is the Northern Alberta-based heavy civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies. Established in 2019 to serve the energy and mining industries, KCLP has grown from 30 experienced team members to more than 300 employees and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment.
The Role
We are seeking two experienced Project Managers to oversee onsite project delivery at Syncrude MLX and Suncor Basemine.
The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of project management experience, preferably in a mining, oil sands, or heavy civil construction environment.
Working closely with the Operations team and field supervisors, the Project Manager will lead project planning and execution, manage budgets and schedules, coordinate resources, and maintain strong client relationships. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client requirements.
Location/Job Details
- Rotation to be determined: 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, 2 weeks on/1 week off, or 24 days on/4 days off.
- 12-hour shifts.
- Onsite at Syncrude MLX or Suncor Basemine, North of Fort McMurray.
- Daily LOA or camp provided.
- Contract until the end of April 2027, with the possibility of extension.
- Work in a noisy, dusty, remote environment around heavy equipment.
- A combination of computer-based office work and field visits.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment Drug and Alcohol testing.
Compensation/Benefits
- $45.00–$55.00 per hour, with overtime paid at 1.5 times the regular rate.
- Overtime after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, whichever is greater.
- Biweekly pay.
- 9.6% vacation and statutory holiday pay on all regular hours, paid biweekly.

Responsibilities/Job Duties
- Lead project planning, execution, monitoring, and completion.
- Ensure project activities meet company safety standards, client requirements, and project specifications.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, costs, schedules, and deliverables.
- Monitor project performance and address risks, delays, and cost overruns.
- Oversee daily LEMS reporting and ensure accurate project cost coding.
- Prepare and present progress reports, financial updates, and project forecasts.
- Manage project scope changes, documentation, and change orders.
- Coordinate equipment, manpower, materials, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide leadership and direction to Project Coordinators and support field supervisors.
- Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a key project contact.
- Communicate regularly with clients, field teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and project performance.
- Coordinate project closeout and ensure required documentation is complete.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Qualifications/Training
- 2–5 years of experience in project management or an equivalent leadership role.
- Engineering degree or engineering technology diploma.
- PMP, P.Eng., or CET designation considered an asset.
- Previous experience managing heavy civil construction, earthworks, or mining projects preferred.
- Alberta oil sands experience and familiarity with rotational camp work preferred.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and resources.
- Experience using B2W software considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, and OneDrive.
