About Us:
Kichton Contracting is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our team. Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Acheson, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium-sized civil earthworks contractor. Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development, to industrial projects. Our services include grading design for all types of new commercial and industrial sites along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
● Work with excavator operator to cut grade
● Work with operator to ensure excavations are safe
● Installation of graded pipe, manholes and catchbasins within tolerance
● Installation of waterline and associated fittings safely and to spec
● Communicate with and delegate ditch crew to keep work productive and safe
● Mentor and train labourers/helpers whenever possible
● Properly set up different types of shoring depending on job need
● Occasional confined space work inside of manholes/catchbasins
● Report issues to Foreman and maintain communication on site
● Work in a safe manner, identifying and reporting any hazards
● Work outdoors in all weather conditions
● Out-of-town work may be available
Qualifications and Competencies:
● Prior experience as Pipelayer
● Must be 18 years of age
● Strong teamwork skills and positive attitude
● Ability to communicate effectively
● Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs unassisted
● Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
● Valid CSTS2020 certification (free online course through ACSA)
● Valid ground disturbance certification
● Confined Space/Fall Protection is an asset
Work Schedule:
● Monday to Saturday
● 10–12-hour shifts per day
● Overtime if required
